A law professor at the University of Texas School of Law, Steven is one of the leading scholars in the nation on religion and law. He is also the faculty director of Texas's Bech-loughlin First Amendment Center and its Law and Religion Clinic. Previously he was a Research Fellow at the Constitutional Law Center at Stanford Law School.
